HSS's Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Saskatoon

Mission

The mission of the Hindu Society of Saskatchewan is to nurture and enhance the understanding of the Hindu faith, principles and values.

VISION

The vision of the Hindu Society of Saskatchewan is:

1. Promote universal understanding and respect for Hindu values and traditions through educational and cultural initiatives.

2. Foster a sense of belonging and unity within the Hindu community, while encouraging active participation in social service and humanitarian efforts.

3. Empower individuals to achieve personal growth and self-realization through the practice of Dharma and spiritual disciplines.

4. Create a network of support that addresses the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of community members

a. Social Support: Establish regular community gatherings, cultural festivals, and group activities to foster strong interpersonal connections. This could include youth clubs, senior groups, and family events that bring people together and create a sense of belonging.

b. Emotional Support: Provide resources such as counseling services, peer support groups, and workshops focused on mental health and resilience. This can be facilitated by trained professionals or volunteers who understand the cultural context and can offer empathetic, culturally sensitive assistance.

c. Spiritual Support: Organize religious ceremonies, prayer sessions, and meditation classes to nurture spiritual growth. Encourage the practice of traditional rituals and teachings to help individuals connect with their spirituality and find inner peace.

d. Educational Programs: Offer classes and seminars on Hindu philosophy, ethics, and practices. This could include language classes, study groups, and discussions on sacred texts, providing members with deeper insights into their cultural heritage.

e. Community Outreach: Create initiatives to engage with the broader community, offering educational outreach and interfaith dialogues to promote understanding and unity. This also involves volunteerism and social service projects that address local needs and foster goodwill.
